There is something really special about a small wedding. When there are fewer people, fewer places you need to be, and a little more room in the timeline, the entire day can feel slower. You get more opportunities to actually look at each other, take a breath, and be present for what is happening instead of constantly wondering what comes next.
That can make a beautiful difference when it comes to your wedding photography in Sudbury, Ontario. With an intimate wedding, we have more freedom to take our time with your photographs. We don't have to rush through every portrait because there is a room full of people waiting for you, and we can spend a little longer creating those photographs of just the two of you.
One of my favourite things about smaller weddings is the opportunity for more couple and bridal portraits. On a larger wedding day, there can be so many moving pieces — family photographs, bridal party photographs, guests wanting to say hello, speeches, dinner, getting from one location to another — that sometimes the couple is being pulled in ten different directions. I can still create beautiful portraits, but we may have a much smaller window to do them.
With an intimate wedding, we can slow that part down. We can wander somewhere beautiful, fix your dress, let you hold each other for a little longer, and take photographs without feeling like we are racing against the clock. We can make the portraits feel less like something we have to check off the wedding timeline and more like another little part of your day that you get to experience together.
And I think that is what makes intimate wedding photography so beautiful. You have more space for the quiet moments, the emotion, and the photographs that don't need a crowd around them. The way your partner looks at you, the way your dress moves, the little laugh that happens between photographs — those are the moments I want to remember.
If you are planning a small wedding or intimate ceremony in Sudbury, Ontario, you don't need hundreds of guests or a packed wedding timeline to have an incredible collection of wedding photographs. Sometimes having fewer people simply gives us more room to focus on the people and moments that matter most.
At The Memories We Keep, that is always what I want your photographs to feel like. Not rushed, overly posed, or like we spent your entire wedding day chasing a shot list, but like little pieces of the day you actually lived. Years from now, I want you to look at them and remember not only what your wedding looked like, but how peaceful it felt to have that time together.
